THE EFFECT OF WATER EXTRACT OF COLA NITIDA POD ON LIPOPROTEIN CONCENTRATIONS OF ALBINO WISTAR RATS
ABSTRACT
Cola nitida was used in the Eastern parts of Nigeria for the management of certain diseases and as an aphrodisiac in the management of some sexual dysfunctions. However, the effects of this extract in certain health parameters in human objects were reported. This work, then, was to study the effect of water extracts of garlic cola on concentrations of lipoproteins on albino Wistar rats. The rats were used in this study and were divided into several groups and fed with a high-calorie food to increase the concentration (blood lipoprotein in the rat models. The effect of the sample aqueous extracts used has was compared with a known drug and statistically compared results to determine the effect of the extract of the water on rat models.
The results of this work indicate that water extracts of cola nitida pods can be used in the management of malfunctioning light lipoproteins and the reasons for its use in sexual erectile functions.
